St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church

image18-51.jpegSt. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest has experienced some incredible growth recently. Over the last 15 years, the church has grown from 300 families to 3,000. In order to meet the needs of a growing congregation, they decided to build a new, traditional church building. The new 32,000 square-foot facility will be capable of seating nearly 1,500 people and will include confessionals, a bell tower, and altar rails.

Newcomb and Company has had the pleasure of working on this project with general contractor Clancy and Theys since October 2010. We are responsible for installing and adjusting the heating and air conditioning system for the new facility. Due to the size and openness of the sanctuary, we are using two large Aaon packaged units equipped with Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs). The ERVs will help efficiently handle the large amounts of outside air required to keep the sanctuary comfortable during church services. These units are also capable of lower temperature set-points to help control the moist outside air.
